BlueTooth vs Infrared Data Transfer

Is BlueTooth compatible with Infrared data transfer? The reason I ask is I own an Alienware Area 51 PC and on the front it has an infrared data window so you can scan items on it to transfer data. Does BlueTooth do anything like that? Or is it just radiowaves?
By definition, Bluetooth involves RF signals, not IR. You would be MUCH better off to spend the $30 (or less) and get a Bluetooth USB Dongle.

Thanks for the info. This BlueTooth USB dongle. Is it a devie that makes your PC bluetooth compatible?
Yes exactly. Linksys makes one and Belkin make a couple, one short range and one long range. I've also heard that you get generic ones on eBay for cheap.

Yes. There is also quite a bit of functionality that the driver adds.
Go to pricegrabber.com and search for "USB Bluetooth" and take your pick.
