if the external screen "cant" be changed then how come the screen on the hofo forums is totally different image than eckos??????

Most likely there is a little selection of External screen backgrounds you can have just like there are preprogrammed ones on most color phones..let's just hope..they don't bring those Emoto-Duckies in..::Shudder:: 😳

Ive seen many different screens (although they could have been graphically enhanced) but I also read somewhere that you CAN change the external display.
also, doesnt this phone have external picture caller ID? it would make sense for this phone to have the functionality to change external backgrounds if it can have external picture caller ID.

You cannot change the external screen at all. I've looked, i've played and it cannot be changed.

Yes you can have picture caller id. If you take a picture and that person calls you then it'll show on the external screen and if you don't have your phone to answer when opened then that same picture will display on the internal screen.
If you don't have a picture id image then the person's name and whether they're calling from a mobile, home, work, etc will appear on the external and likewise on the internal.

ecko... in one of the videos u made for the phone when u first got it the external screen looks lke blue poke a dots and then i saw the other pics i think u posted and it had those 2 or 3 big rings with the blue background.... did u figure out how to change it??

Yes you can change the external screen by changing the color them it changes the outside theme as well. Enjoy and yeah pic id id available when calls come in not when calling out like the 6000.
