Motorola V710

I can't wait any longer for the 710 so I'm picking up the vx7000 on either the 25th or the 1st (who knows). I am debating whether to buy it on the 1 or 2 year plan. I've had Verizon service forever and I know that you can upgrade 1 year into a 2 year contract if you sign up for a $50 and up contract for another 2 years. So really it would make no sense for me to do the 1 year then correct??
