v710 isnt worth changing carriers
the v710 is great and everything but its not worth me changing carriers over, im almost done with one year (1 of 2) with my contract with cingular, and ive decided to buy a motorola v80 retail to replace my v400 anyway. gsm is the future of mobile technology and this fone is going to delivered to the customer with everything blocked so that verizon can squeeze a couple more pennies out of you.
obex blocked and just about every other feature besides a headset that bluetooth is good for. it will be a while before something is made to solve that (an OEM flex or something) and i would rather just wait until something like this is available in a gsm version. its going to happen sooner or later and the v80 is a beautiful looking fone anyway 😁...

LoL tri-mode-only, im sorry for wanting to use a service that is continuing to expand than wanting to go with a service that is backwards and has been around for too long. cmda is going to disappear, and verizon is probably changing with the tide soon or they'll develop their own new technology, but they can't continue on cdma as long as theyd like to. and for what i need my phone for, i dont need verizon... coverage in all the US isnt necessary if im going to be staying in new jersey and paying less for more. gsm works perfect in new jersey, almost along the wohle north east coast...
as far as getting free service... LoL nope. its only a verizon retail store. the verizon retail stores that do A LOT of business (circuit city or wutever), ...

a bluetooth phone with a bluetooth enabled laptop that could connect to this EvDO would be quite nice, but still, not something i really need

What makes you think CDMA is dead? Ever checked the price of Qualcomm stock? Anyways, CDMA in it's 3G version is CDMA2000 while GSM or 3GSM aka UMTS is called WCDMA as in Wideband CDMA so GSM is going to eventually get replaced by WCDMA while CDMA2000 will replace CDMA but will still be backwards compatible.

So you work at Verizon wireless and you don't even have their service?! Isn't it free for you?
