As far as the ad in the WSJ, being that it is purely a Moto ad and NOT a VZW ad, common sense states that Moto is doing that to up thier stock, (hense the location of the ad) and yes it shows the phone will be out soon, but when, only VZW knows.
It has been said, and you can do the search on HOFO, by an employee that training on the 710 is set for the 15th of July, so figure what that means..even though it apparent VZW cares little weather or not thier employees know anything about thier products!!
Everyone gets mad and frustrated at times, does that ruin your credibility? No, I think not, everyones buttons can be pushed. So give Ecko a break, even if he is selling his phone the bottom line is if you are willing to wait ho...

good point. personally, i would think the marketers would have picked an ad supporting the entire brand, or at the very least ALL of their new/upcoming products (i.e., the 600 as well). that being said, motorola's stock price hasn't been going gangbusters lately.

Ads boost sales. Sales and Profit boost stock prices.

I think the location of the ad has more to do with the demographic of the readers (potential consumers of the phone)than anything else. Folks who read the WSJ are generally well educated and relatively highly compensated individuals -- a perfect target market for this product.

I agree, however, not telling people where they can expect to get such an item, seems to me to show that it is more of a "see we are Moto and we have the newest technology" which = buy more stock...and stock buyers almost exclusively read the WSJ! It is also possible that other carriers may get the 710 as well, like Alltel, so Moto doesnt want to limit its ties to VZW..just speculation of course!
