Magazine Ad

I'm sorry if I missed someone pointing this out before but I found an ad in the June issue of Men's Health on page 64.

Now, the thing I found interesting is the price is listed without the usual * and accompanying quote at the bottom of the page with "two year contract required" at the bottom of the page. The price for the phone is listed at $200 and there's nothing about a contract. Hell, if they set a higher price we may have grounds for a false advertising suit. 🙂

That looks more like a review than an ad.

Plus price shown on any add is not neccesarly the selling price since the add is just the invitation to buy the product.........They can sell it at any price they want

Many reviews include the price. As an example here's a link to a current review of the Nokia 6600 by ZDNet.

Note the phrase in the first paragraph: "Overall, it's a solid addition to the carrier's lineup, and at $149.99 with service, it's fairly priced. "

Yeah, I'm sure they just walked down to their local verizon store and picked one up to review. There was obviously no marketing involved here. My bad 🙂

No worries -- the offset "box" it was in does look like an ad at first glance.

Oh -- and btw - if that was a snide remark towards me since the phones aren't yet in the stores -- it's very common for manufacturers to send reviewers advance preview items for their use.
