For starters, it's not a completely trivial problem to not blow up the phone while in use. Lithium-Ion batteries have a *lot* of energy stored in them. Energy that, if released all at once, will send you to the hospital and/or catch stuff on fire. And it's astonishingly bad publicity if it happens.
