external display shut off?

I picked up the 7000 to kill some time yesterday. What's really really annoying me about it is that the external lcd shuts off after a while so if I want to see the time, I have to press a button.

Does anyone know if the 710 does something like this or if this is something standard on phones with external lcds? I'm upgrading from a v60i so it's been a while...

My guess would be NO since the 710 is plagued w/ terrible battery life. The screen turns off on the 7000 to save battery life. Its not hard to press a button anyways!

and you have held and used the V710 for at least a couple of days to verify that the battery life is "terrible"... I highly doubt it.

It DOES shut off, it's been mentioned a couple of times by people who HAVE actually had the phone. I seem to remember hearing that there is a setting for it where you could leave it on for up to 60 seconds.

Battery life would be horrible if an LCD was on all the time.
