strange info from my vzw guy

spoke to one of the guys i talk to semi-frequently at my local vzw store here in ga and he told me, though it seemed a little odd, that the v710 has not even entered testing at this point. now, obviously, this is a lie and he's full of sh!t, but it makes me wonder just how much the vzw reps really have on this thing. i know they gotta keep it quiet because of the contest run by moto, but damn it....guess i'm just annoyed that i was lied to. (my two much cooler vzw guys i usually speak with just are kinda like "yeah it's a cool phone.")

VZW sales reps don't know any more than any of us do. They are literally the "low man on the totem pole" at VZW. Think about it, go walk into a Verizon store... how many products do you see? A few dozen, right? Why would Verizon corporate want to bog down their sales reps with information on a product they can't sell?

There's almost no advantage to VZW in giving their sales people information for a product that they can't sell.

As no stranger to retail sales, wouldn't it have made alot of sence to presell this phone 😉

Not if you can't guarantee stock, which seems to be the case. Plus, with Moto's contest, it would create additional issues (and there are already so many with that contest).

why presell a product that you know that you will sell out of once it hits ground. push what you have instock. the whole goal is to sell what you have instock. instock product is costing you money just sitting there. so any manager with half a brain will push his staff to sell instock product.
