Just Curious....

but do any of you with a cell phone experience any reception change when you extend your antenna. For me i extend it and its the same as if i didnt extend it. Just curious cause a lot of people complain about stub and extendable antennas. Was wondering how many of you actually get better reception with it out. I live in NYC with a Samsung a530 and it does nothing for me. 😁

My undersatanding is that the extendable antenna only helps in analog service areas. Which would explain why "all digital| phones seem to all have snub and "tri-mode" phones have the extendable. The 530 is all digital so it shouldn't make a difference. Especially in a place like NYC.

I think I've seen improvement in area of low reception. NYC is covered very well you would rarely see a difference. I know there are problems sometimes in certain buildings are made of materials that reduce reception. It might help to put up the antenna in those buildings.

Personally, I notice that if I'm in a marginal area, the antenna helps a lot. And leaving the antenna out does seem to help battery life quite a bit.
