LG bought time from Verizon to delay 710

Could it be possible that maybe LG lined motorola's pockets with special incentives, kickbacks, etc to delay the rollout of the 710? After all it would be LG's main competitor. And July and December are probably the busiest times of the year for phone sales.

Sounds like a possible powerplay to me.

Perhaps because one of the previous Mot offerings to VZW was the POS that is now widely known as the T20? And also take into account that the "3 out of 4 tests repeated" speculation is just that, speculation.

That would be called Collusion, its illeagal, now while I think Verizon is trying to give the 7000 time so they can minimize the 15 day returns, there is no conspiracy.

Thats pretty much it. No. That would never happen. Unless you said it wrong. Motorola would NEVER take incetives, etc from LG to delay the release of a phone. If verizon told moto to hold off on the v710 for the 7000, I could see that being a little more feasable, however, unlikely. I think Verizon is just scared that all this "new technology" might affect the operation of the phone. They also, (as EZ_B said, don't want a repeat of the t720.)

I think it's more possible that LG had Verizon Wireless agree to not selling any phones within an x amount of time of the VX7000's release.

These companies are COMPETITORS. If Moto knew that LG was afraid of losing business because of the v710, then that would only make them want to get the phone out sooner.

LG has taken a ton of market share from Moto, especially with VZW... it would take TONS and TONS of money for Moto to allow LG to take even more of it with the vx7000.

I don't see any possible way that either company would even remotely consider a deal such as this.

That being said, it wouldn't shock me horribly if VZW is paying Moto for the delay. Possibly either as a contractual penatly, or as a way to maximize profits from both the vx7000 and the v710.

Yep but wouldn't it also work if LG told VZW that they can't release another phone from a competitor during a x amount of time after the VX7000 is released? I mean they could have that in the original agreement before LG allowed VZW to carry the phone.
