DECIDING FACTOR

I've read reports of not being able to transfer data such as images (Pictures) and sound (ring tones) Via the removable memory!

I was planning on adding ring tones and wallpaper to the phone by putting them on the removable memory an then save it to the phone.

I was also planning on transferring pictures I've taken with the phone on to the removable memory and then onto my computer so I won't have to send them through pix/flix messaging.

If this isn't possible I'm going back to my the LG VX7000 or waiting for the LG VX8000!

I am not sure as to the media's transfer capabilities but the prerequisite issue that you will need to address is that the memory is a proprietary format. I know that a lot of the initial reports talked about a SD/MMC style slot but the one I have played with that is in testing is much much smaller, about the size of half a US dime. So even if you could transfer date via the card I have yet to see any mention of a compatibly memory reader.

Acctually, The card you are talking about, a TransFlash card, is not proprietary (at least not to Motorola). It is made by Sandisk, and it is supposedly going to be sold to the general public late August. Transflash to MiniSD and SD cards already exist, allowing you to insert the adapter into a TransFlash slot and read MiniSD and SD cards.

Well in that case I stand corrected 🤭 Apparently the tech I was dealing with was not terribly informed 🙂

You know there will definatly be one though...that's not my concern. It's like creating bullet with no compatible firearm...

No, you will most likely see one sooner than you'd think, if it catches on, so that the flash-reader manufacturers can have a 231-in-one combo flash-and-the-kitchen-sink reader instead of a 230-in-one reader. So that you won't get one of those old antiquated 219-in-one combo flash readers, or god forbid, a standalone SD reader. ;)

I will note, as a digression, that my flash reader counts MicroDrives and CompactFlash cards as two different things. ;)
