whats the purpose of having multiple bands on a cell phone. ex:800MHz,1900MHz. Some phones are dual, tri, and quad band. What makes the quad band so special over a dual band phone? 😁

The V710 is a trimode phone which will operate on 800 MHz. cellular, 1900 MHz. PCS, and 800 MHz. analog systems. VZW uses all three in various parts of the country. Digital-only phones will not operate in analog areas. That analog ability can come in handy when you are out in the boonies with no digital coverage.

Forgive me, but I think you are misunderstanding the "bands" completely. Having multiple bands allows you to roam on other carriers networks (if available) and gives you more coverage on your carrier's network. For example, VZW uses both 800Mhz & 1.9Ghz bands in the US. Also, more specifically, quad band phones means that it's a world phone where you can travel internationally and use your same phone on other countries networks (if available).
