Advertising Doesn't Mean A Thing

You all..don't be surprised if the V710 doesn't come out for VZW. Motorola probably fully expected the phone to be released by Verizon and jumped the gun. And if the phone is in limbo right now it wouldn't make sense for them to pull their advertisements. One, if it does get released by VZW or someone else(sprint?) then the ads keep the phone in peoples minds and will help it's sales when releasaed. Two, pulling the ads and admitting the phone has been cancelled makes Moto look really really bad. The last thing they need right now. I'm willing to bet they are fighting tooth and nail to get that phone released and are running the ads just in case and to keep up appearances.

That, and insertion orders and copy are due pretty early, at least for many print ads, so they'd have had to commit to the space awhile back, and probably commit to "v710 copy" fairly early as well. Are the ads still showing up online? I haven't seen any recently, but that might be telling (unless they bought a "run of..." for a month, though with online content most places will let you rotate ads, so if things suddenly switch to the V600 again then you'll know something's up.
