Does anyone know if this phone will work with Apple's iSync (bluetooth)?
Or as a modem (bluetooth)? 😳

What I've been told by a friend who works for VZW development: "Almost all of the bluetooth capabilities will be blocked in the OS of the phone" In other words no data transfer, sync, etc. It seems the only thing an "unhacked" V710 will do is communicate with cordless speaker phones & wireless headsets. Dont worry, it wont take long for someone to hack the OS and give people access to everything, but its probably gonna be in Raw data format since no software vendors will be creating sync programs for the phone

Does what you're saying mean that as a Mac person using OS X and Mail as my email program I won't be able to access my email from the V710???

I don't think that is what he is saying...
OSX allows you to sync address book bluetooth/usb using iSync. However verizon blocks this out some how?
It also allows you to use it as a modem bluetooth/usb:
Again Bluetooth might be blocked for this use also?

That wasn't really what I was concerned about....I called Motorola to ask if the new V710 will be able to access my email even if I'm a Mac user.....I was told not a problem but, customer service could not give me a release date.

My Startec is 5 plus years old and it works great.....when ever the V710 comes out I'll get it. Unfortunately, a Verizon salesperson misled led me about email and sold me a LV6600........got home with it checked Phone Scoop and brought the phone right back to the store.........I was really angry.

Finally a serious discussion here.

Prec1437, What do you think would be the purpose of having the Bluetooth capabilities if they plan on limiting them so much? Or what would be the purpose of limiting the Bluetooth so much if the phone is capable of handling these functions?

Kbut-
I asked the same question and he said that VZW is not ready at this time to deploy a "wireless data transfer phone". There is no support software on the market and having all bluetooth capabilities availible would "compromise the end user's data security" In other words they are afraid of people hacking into the phone when they are close by. At this point the bluetooth is a selling point and enables them to have wireless accs. As far as the apple question, unless you hack the phone and give it the ability to transfer data no... Dont worry it should be easy enough to hack. Also, Motorola has nothing to do with the OS or firmware of the phone after VZW gets it. Im sure that when it left motorola its bluetooth capabilities were unre...

Thanks for the insight Prec1437
I just hope they don't mess with the ability for the phone to talk to all the different car's built in hands-free capabilities, which I'm sure most people waiting on this phone are after.
