Bluetooth Sync Question

kgray

Jul 20, 2004, 12:56 PM
Aside from a blue-tooth adapter for my PC, what else will I need to sync my PC PIM software with the address book from the phone?

Do I need special software on the PC?
Can I use Outlook or Palm software? If so - how do I tell the PC which numbers to send to the phone? There must be a 3rd party app that handles all of this - right? If so, does it come with the phone? If not - what is it, and how much does it cost?

Thanks

you need the motorola phone tools program. including the usb bluetooth adapter, directly from motorola it is $79. they also are supposedly coming out with a newer version of the phone tools that is supposed to give more ability to transfer media to and from the phone.

I'd shy away from the Moto adaptor though. Bluetooth is bluetooth no matter who's adaptor. You can find Belkin and others online for 30 to 40 bucks (depending on range) and a little more in stores. $79 for a USB 10m Bluetooth adaptor is absurd.

its $79 for the adapter PLUS the software, not just the adapter.

I sit corrected. Thanks for the set-straight.

I hope they sell the software as a stand-alone. I'm already set for Bluetooth adaptors and built-in Bluetooth.

By the way, that site you had the link for is v600 ONLY for the software. Says so numerous times. No doubt they'll have a different set-up for the v710.

they do offer the software as a stand alone. it's only $29.99, therefore saying the usb BT adapter is $50 (unreasonable?)

this link was found looking for all accessories for all phones, it gives a list of phones that are compatible with it, i cant imagine they would put out a completely different software package for the 710.

Yep and not to mention, you can download Mobile Phone Tools 2.0 from motclub.com for free. Just get the 1.x version and then update to 2.x with the patches available from Motorola.

And I mean you can get it using Overnet (www.overnet.com) and using this link after you have OverNet installed:
