Trans Flash Q?

elec_engineer

has anyone heard of an adapter that converts SD cards to trans flash? I know it would look odd sticking out of the top of the phone, but it would allow larger capacities for the mp3 player, since I do not have a solid state proprietary mp3 player. And for those that are testing the v710 is the trans flash slot blocked with a dummy trans flash card or a spring loaded door?
Thanks

There is a T-Flash to SD adapter but no SD to T-Flash, it would stick out too far and would probably break off in the T-Flash slot. Then you would be in a real fine situation. BTW... if you use the name elec_engineer you should know this. For a EE you really don't know much... do you?

you ever see the masive accessories coming out of the compact flash slots? I will make an adapter for myself. It will be a piggy back design. I just hope the v710 can handel more than 128MB. and this has nothing to do with me being an electrical engineer. It is more of a marketing issue than an enginnering issue. It is easy to design. and I will probably have the only one. 😁 thats why I got into engineering. Anyway anyone know how the T-flash slot is blocked or is it? To keep lint and crap out of the phone. Thanks

TranshFlash card is already listed on Amazon, not yet in stock. 128MB @ $33 including an adapter that I assume will allow you to plug the card into an SD drive.

I doubt that the v710 will have the ability to access anything bigger than 128mb. Sure sandisk will eventually have larger capacity t-flash cards, but my guess is that mo...

the v710 can use t-flash memory up to 1GB. the largest tested with v710 is 512mb.

Even at 1.2 megapixels, 128 Mb will hold a TON of pictures and other information such as contacts. I don't think that there will be any larger sizes until we start seeing camera phones with higher resolutions. What I don't understand is why they just didn't use SD memory in the first place. There are pleny of tiny devices even smaller than the V710 that take SD media. It sounds like a scam to sell a new format of digital media.

because of transflash size, it is easier to incorporate the memory into the phone. plus transflash is much quicker than sd.

Quicker? We aren't dealing with professional photography here. And I don't understand how its size makes it any easier to incorporate into the camera. Check out the Pentax Optio S4i. It's a digital camera that fits into an Altoids tin, and it uses SD quite effectively.

the size does not matter when it comes to a camera. but when it comes to a cell phone, size does matter. the cell phone is no longer just a cell phone. it is a PIM, camera, alarm clock, mp3 player, etc. because people want the cell phone to all this other things and still be fairly small, the smaller form factor of the memory, the better.
