Bluetooth (Addresses/Pics/Mac) Question

OOO

Jul 21, 2004, 2:59 PM
After reading all these bluetooth posts I am still not sure if I am right about this.

-Will the V710 work with Macs/iSync?
-If so, will the V710 be able to transfer Addresses/Numbers/Contacts and pictures using bluetooth?

My Mac doesn't have bluetooth so I am asking this because if these features do work I will buy the external bluetooth accessory from D-Link to enable bluetooth, so anyone who knows the answer to this, it would be greatly appreciated. Not really in the mood to spend 50-60 extra dollars on something that won't work with my phone. Thanks

OK I found many places with the Transflash cards themselves but i searched everywhere for the SD adapter, which the press release for this technology stated would be the way to connect to your computer, any suggestions? cause i can't imagine there is another way to connect the transflash card to the computer thanks

So I just talked with a representative from moto who wasn't too helpful and then was transfered to a software specialist who told me the reason this phone will not communicate via bluetooth with macs is because macs don't support Mobile Phone Tools. Now after kind of arguing with the "specialist" it seemed as though the program iSync for the mac is kind of a replacement for mobile phone tools. So, unless Motorola for some reason blocks bluetooth with macs, I wouldn't understand why iSync wouldn't work. I could understand that Motorola would want people to buy Mobile Phone Tools so they would tell people that iSync would not sync with the V710 but there is not a logical reason I can think of that the V710 shouldn't be able to work perfectl...

The thing with isync is, it's a mac program. Written by apple. It's a condiut to take data from one device and send sync it to another. They have to build in the capibility to use the device and as of yet, the V600 is not compatible. They won't "disable" the bluetooth for macs. I don't think they can do that, but if the interface for address book and calendar are unique, then apple would have to upgrade their isync program to work with that phone. iSync has been pre-programed with a few (many) devices that it understands. New devices would have to be added by apple for it to work.

My guess is that since the V600 doesn't sync with isync, the 710 won't either. You can use the bluetooth file exchange to copy vcards over so you don't ...

OK thanks a lot but since the bluetooth probably wont work i'd like to buy the transflash card. Now I see where I can buy the cards themself, and I even have the converter for a SanDisk card for my Mac due to my previous camera, so all I need is the SD converter for the card itself but I can't find it anywhere. Now, is it because the hardware is extremely new? If so will it be available by the time the phone is out you think? cause this is the only option for my phone to communicate with my computer and swap things. So all in all, my two questions are are the converters available at all and if not when will they be and second, using the Transflash card will I be able to put pics, movies, mp3s on my phone, I am assuming it will becasue ho...

I think that happened to me when I first connected my PowerBook with my Sony Ericsson T637. But, then, iSync prompted me with a different option. Perhaps, there's a preference in iSync that allows you to select Address Book.

I figured that it would connect to the phone via bluetooth. I don't know if it will be possible to get the iSync to work. I know it did with my T637 but apple built that functionality in to iSync. If you can connect, I know it's not the best thing, but try copying a vcard from your address book to the T710 and see if that imports a contact into your list.

I would be interested if that would work (if you can't get isync to work).
