V710 Full Retail Pricing

LieBuster

Okay, I'm confused about the full retail price of this phone. I read here:

https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php?fm=m&f ... »

that full retail will be $399.00. However, I read here:

http://www.wirelessadvisor.com/forums/showthread.php ... »

that full retail will be $519.00. While I realize that the second post references Radio Shack, that shouldn't make such a significant difference, should it? So my first question is which is the correct pricing? My second question is if the $519 is correct, why wouldn't I just cancel my contract, pay the ETF, and sign a new contract which would save me nearly $100?

The prices you see are really f***ed up. The real pricing is in this link. This is some press release telling that the Moto V710 will be released for Verizon Wireless.

Yes, I have read that several times and appreciate your response. However, that press release says nothing about the FULL RETAIL price of the phone. It only describes the price with a new two-year contract.

By "full retail price" I can only assume the original poster means the price of the phone WITHOUT a contract.

You misunderstood the press release. The press release says $249 AFTER a $70 rebate (not before) which means the 2 year price is $319 before the rebate.

Are you serious? The pricing in the press release is $249.00 AFTER the $70 rebate. That is with a two year contract. If you don't sign a new contract, you have to pay more for the phone. This would be the "full retail price."

One way to get an idea of what you'd have to pay would be to go to the Verizon site, login to your account (provided you have an online account) and select "Upgrade Phone". A list of phones and their "full retail" prices will be displayed. A few samples are:

-LG VX-7000 - $349.99
-Samsung SCH-a530s - $359.99 (I bought this a month ago, with the rebate i paid $30.00!).
-Samsung SCH-a670 - $269.99 (this is the new Samsung camera/video phone)
-Kyocera 7135 Smartphone - $629.99

I would be surprised if the V710 costs as much as the Kyocera 7135 but it will most definitely cost more than the Samsung SCH-a530s. I think it'll come in somewhere in the $400.00 - $500.00 range. 😳

Hi NYCGirl,

Are you sure the phone model you bought last month that you stated is right you? If the price of the Samsung SCH-a530s phone was $359.99 a mere month ago, I just saw it on verizonwireless.com for $49.99 with contract Hope you didn't use up extra credits.

Maybe I should wait for the v710. I'm probably going to anyways if Motorola has tons of backlogs due to parts shortages. Anyways, it might not be in the $400 to $500 range as you suspect, because that might be way too much at full retail. See if you can trade up. Not sure why you got it with no camera.

When I bought my Samsung SCH-a530s, I had just signed on with Verizon (the SCH-a670, camera phone wasn't out yet), so I paid something like $60.00 for the phone, minus the $30.00 mail-in rebate, my total out-of-pocket was $30.00. Within a few months after joining Verizon, I noticed that the price of this phone "with a NEW contract" dropped even lower 🙄 All of the phone prices that I mentioned in my previous post would apply to current Verizon customers who are not using their NE2 credit; pretty much its buying the phone without a contract. If you currently do not have service with Verizon, definitely wait for V710! You will get the V710 at the cheapest price that will be offered. I you have service with Verizon and are using your ...

LieBuser, I'm not following your logic. The cancellation fee is $175, correct? The retail price difference is $120 ($519 versus $399). Could you give me the missing piece of your calculation where you would save nearly $100 by cancelling your existing contract and sign a new one?

No, here's what I'm saying. I can either purchase the phone for $519.00 full retail (if tht is the price). Or I can cancel and re-sign:

$519.00

vs.

$175.00 (early term) + $249.00 (after rebate) = $424.00

$519.00 - $424.00 = $95.00 saved

$519 may be the price if you buy it without any SERVICE whatsoever (never mind a contract)

That's my guess.
