it doesn't actually have nothing available, it has the "email" and "mms" function available and it also says that the connection method to the program isn't BT, its USB...i'm so confused.
I can't believe they'd make this phone and not have a function to synch your phonebook, calendar, etc. Maybe the manual is wrong or outdated.

It looks bizarre to me... the little blue sign isnt even there for the 710.

You'd be surprised....
Verizon want you to use Verizon branded services for as much functionality as possible. So, as much as possible, they have been restricting the path with which data can enter and leave the phone.
There's some rational business logic at play. The whole thing is that in 2-3 years, especially if the ATTWS/Cingular merger goes through, ATTWS/Cingular will be able to bring an equally good network to bear on Verizon.
This means two things. First, ...

do you feel there will be hacked versions of any type of program or just other programs offered that will give us the option to atleast save our phonebook entries?
I have no idea.
The one problem is that they already know that folks will try to find ways to get around the locks (gagin anyone? ;) ) so they are probably being extra-careful to block any especially easy ways to install unapproved stuff.

God, I certainly hope so! If not, I'm just going to forget I ever heard of the v710 and get the Treo. At these prices, it makes little sense to buy a crippled v710.
Had Sprint's coverage and service not sucked so badly, I would have never switched back to VZW. I really liked my Treo 300.
Verizon had better watch its step because there are quite a few people that won't stand for this type of gamesmanship......not at these prices (if, in fact, what has been stated in this thread is true).

with Phone Tools 2.0 you can: "Sync contacts and appointments between your PC and your mobile phone while on the go." & it says the "bundle of Bluetooth PC USB Adapter and the mobile PhoneTools version 2.0 is compatible with the Motorola V600 and V710 Bluetooth enabled phones."
Did Motorola even contract with BVRP to create version 2.0? There seems to be a disconnect between websites?
Back up the phone book. đ
Sync Calendar and Contacts with Outlook. đ
Use the v710 as a modem. đ
It will NOT:
Function with BT (it activates the BT but does not 'initialize'. đ˛
Import or export files off the TransFlash. đŋ
Allow access to media as it does with some other models.
Basically, 'someone' put the clamps on this thing for the initial release.
Also, which version of Mobile Phone Tools are you using? Is it worth buying?
Thanks
I am using Mobile Phone Tools 2.x (online upgrades done).

page 71 states: "The Multimedia Browser allows you to move your files (images, photos, melodies, etc.) from your computer to your mobile phone and vice versa."
The bluetooth kit is supposedly compatible with the V600 and the V710. How can they justify selling a "bluetooth bundle" if it does not work with the phone they're selling it for??
Some changes will undoubtedly occur before the phone is released. Either the phone will be chan...

I'm not buying this phone as a camera or mp3 player. Eventually i'm sure it will do everything.
Sounds like the Blue Tooth is a wasteof money and you're better off the the USB data cable.
If you guys can't sync with the PC, then how do we transfer mp3 and pictures to and from the phone to our PC? I thought that was what the Mobile Phone Tools file manager was suppose to be able to do.
Instead of syncing up the phone book, can someone try to transfer MP3s or picture?
Thanks in advance.
