Motorola V710
This phone is really great butt.......
This phone will be the cream of the crop when it comes out but for the average person like me that price tag is really steep. I was just wondering if Verizon had a specific markdown schedule. What I mean is that they are going to milk it for all that it is worth by having the price as high as they can but when will the price go down. How long does it have to be out? Will it possibly go down when the LG 8000 comes out?? Please help me so I know if I have to go to the bank and get a loan to get this phone. Thanks.

I don't work for VZW and don't have official knowledge of the price schedule, but I do have first-hand experience with another Motorola phone - T720.
I got the T720 back when it was the "latest and greatest." My phone was from the first batch, and so I had to take it back to the store and exchange it (there was a recall). While I waited I noticed that the phone price was almost FREE after all the offers and rebates. I was not very happy about this, since not but 3-4 weeks prior I had paid over $200.
I didn't think this was right, and contacted customer service via phone and email - several times, until I made them understand that they can't penalize loyal customers and early adopters of technology. After a few emails and phone calls...

Did the same, except never got a $100s back. This time, I'm waiting a month after this comes out and I'll get it. I'm sure it'll go down in price. Plus, if it gets the same reviews as the T720, I'm staying way clear of it. I really hope Motorola doesn't drop the ball on this one.

I'm not waiting for the phone to drop, but trusty American Express will protect me from a price drop for 60 days anyway. Have my cake and eat it too.

Hey JMW- I have amex. Are you saying that Amex will credit you back the difference if the price drops withing 60 days.

Prices fly all over the place. I got my T720 at $300 - $100 phone trade in rebate. Then it dropped $100. I got a price adjustment at radio-shack, but I did notice the price fluctuate especially at Christmas. Or other holidays that bring in volume customers. I doubt it will go down for the back to school rush since it so lose to the release.

LG 8000 isnt coming out anytime soon. They just released the 7000. You see how long it takes to release phones so I wouldnt even take their release time-line seriously. By the time the 8000 comes out (next year), I'm sure the v710 will be much cheaper. I don't see the v710 dropping in price till XMAS or at least 2 months after being released. Thats usually how it works with all phones.
