Just give it a couple of weeks while stores get their supplies in. Ebay is the epitome of the free market: once more suppliers/dealers enter the market, prices will get much more competitive and the prices will drop. Right now, there are only about 1 or 2 dealers on ebay selling it with a few non-dealers selling whatever individual units they have now. More dealers will enter the ebay market shortly.

But yeah, their shipping charges are ridiculous.

Several are charging $10 for shipping... That's $61 for the headset; $71 total.

Saves you about $16 over the Motorola site -- Not that much savings, considering you're not buying from the manufacturer, with all warranties, etc.

I just did this search myself this morning on Froogle.com. Here are the results.

Basically there are places that have it for around $70 but I'm not sure about the shipping cost. One guy on HowardForums got his from www.bluetoothheadsets.com (a.k.a. www.blueheadsets.com) and they also have the black one (in addition to the teal one). Most sites only list the teal one. Personally I think the black one will go better with the V710.

I agree about the color -- That's why I purchased a black one. I think those are the European models.

I just found another online store which has both the Black and Teal ones for $69.99 plus shipping of only $6.85 (which is cheap compared to some of those guys on eBay. It's www.malcolmwireless.com and I've actually picked up stuff at their retail store in Woodside (Queens), NY from their auctions I won on eBay. Here are links to the Black and Teal HS820.

A scam has to due with not getting what is advertised. You can clearly see that shipping is $20. It may be a crappy move, but as long as you get what you are paying for no matter how much the total is. Then its not a scam.

I know several people who got the V600 from Cingular and one of the added promotions for them was to get the headset free from Motorola. I know they are giving away to the first 710 people who register their phone, but I wonder if they will give a coupon or discount as part of the phone package.
