Verizon Rep -- Advice needed

Heymjo

Can any Verizon rep tell me how to handle contract/pricing on the V710. I am currently in the middle of a 2 year extension on my contract (I bought the Audiovox 8900 last August and don't like it), and I am not eligible under the "Every two" plan to get another new phone until next August (2005). I have been a loyal and steady Verizon customer since Verizon's inception and I know from a previous encounter with a Verizon manager that I am rated in the top 10% of desirable customers. So when they tell me I have to pay $500 or so for the phone since I am in the middle of my contract, how do I get them to give me the rebate and the two-year signing credit (I am willing to sign on for another 2 years)?

From my experience -- and I am not a rep. -- if you call VZW Customer Service and let them know your situation. They will note your account, and allow you to get the phone at the 2 year contract price, with rebate. The only thing is that your contract with them renews for 2 years the day that you get the phone. You wouldn't get the $100 new ever 2 credit.

You can also threaten that your unhappiness with your current phone is such that you might even consider paying the penalty and going to another carrier -- since closing your account and getting a new phone with a competitor would probably be cheaper. I think at the very least you will probably get to upgrade your phone at the promotional price if you agree to 2 year contract, again....

well, I am not a verizon rep, but I have a friend that does and this is how the upgrade process works.

If you sign a one year contract with Verizon, you are eligible to get a new phone on a discounted price after the first 10 months of the year.

If you sign a two year contract you can get a new phone after the first 22 months, UNLESS you are on a plan that is $49.99 or more, where then you can get a new phone after the first 13 months (I think-it might even be 12 months). If you call up Verizon they will tell you if your plan is eligible.

I had the same problem but I fixed it with Verizon.
