JUST GOT THE CALL FROM RADIO SHACK!!!!
just got the call i've been waiting for! my local radio shack called me and told me the v710 would be in today or early tomorrow morning and they will be holding it for me. FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told tommorrow evening, 3PM-ish. Since I already paid for it via Direct2U, I can do a due bill refund on the D2U order and pay for the in-store phone with that. The manager said he would hook me up.
Of course, I will only believe it when I have the phone in my grubby hands. But still, so far so good.
If what some say is true about Verizon wanting the phone first to sell before Radio Shack, that would be ironic. Verizon ignored bluetooth phones for years to protect their precious Express Network. Now, they are trumpeting this phone like the second coming and want all first glory to themselves.

okay, so is this the regular shipment that's coming in, or just your phone that you ordered (which i guess should have been cancelled with the rest of ours)? Is this the main shipment, so anyone can go to a RS and buy one, or just the special direct2u orders?

thi is the main shipment. he's getting them in the stores today or tomorrow morning and is holding one for me. he said he will call when it's in but he got a call today saying they were on their way. ill let u guys know when he calls me.

I think this is their normal two-phone allotment that we've ehard about - though I'm not sure. But I'm pretty confident it's not my order as it was to ship directly to me, not the store.

I went into RS this morning and spoke to their Verizon Rep and manager about my order being cancelled. They both apologized profusely for what happened. Then they called around for a bit and said that the phone should be in tomorrow afternoon and I can have it the second it arrives and if not tomorrow, Friday morning at the latest. Hopefully it all works out but I already got the paperwork from AT&T to switch over to them just in case it doesn't.
I was also able to see and play with the HS820 headset they had and I did not like it as much as the HS810 so I'm definitely sticking with the 810, which is soooo much prettier than the 820.

My local store said they would be getting two in friday and would hold one for me. Since orders are being cancelled and it isnt on the RS website anymore will I still get my phone friday?

I just talked to the RS store where I bought mine and I told her about all the so called cancelations and asked if she could check on mine and she called the toledo warehouse where mine is coming from and they looked up the order and it has listed as shipped and she told me that her charge for the shipping was $3.45. She said relax it will be her tomorrow and I will call you when it is in. It was not a direct2u order though it was a in store order so maybe thats why it was not affected.
