Clamshell Question

Never had a clamshell phone...manual says closing the clamshell ends the call.

Can this be changed in case you want to walk around w/a headset and keep the phone on your belt closed?

I haven't read the user manual yet - which thanks to your post - I will do over the next few days... but I can tell you that with every clamshell I've ever had - closing the phone will NOT end the call ***as long as you have a headset plugged into the jack (without a headset plugged in - the call would end)

I've never had a phone with Spearkerphone, or Bluetooth - so I'm not sure how these work - but I'd imagine they recognize that you are on the speaker, or on the headset, and will not kill the call.

I've never had a speakphone either on any of my cell phones, and I couldn't find any instructions in the manual.

How do you activate the speakphone option? Do you activate it prior to dialing or after? Any instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

well according to page 50 of the manual, it says you turn it on or off "during a call"
also, in the manual, you see the speakerphone button used for other functions when not on a call

Now that's one of my biggest pet peaves w/my soon to be discarded Timeport 270c.

You have to wait until the call is connected to hit the speaker phone button, making it not really "handsfree".

Also, turning on the speakerphone generates a "beep". This can really screw things up if you're dialing in to a voice mail or other service and have programmed in a sequence of tones to send when connected. If you turn on the speakerphone before the string of tones, the speakphone tone screws it up....you have to listen to the headset, wait till all your passw...

Thanks samkatz!

As always, you're very helpful. I'll be sure to investigate the manual some more...I most have overlooked that section.

Thanks again.
