Clarification of new every 2!

Captain Verizon

Jul 29, 2004, 10:26 PM
I work for an exclusive VZW agent. We do not do new every 2, but I know how it works. The extra $100 you receive is supposed to be a coupon sent to you in the mail when you are eligible. It is like an instant rebate when you sign a new 2 year contract. Also, you have to already be in or just out of a current 2 year contract. If you are in a 1 year you do not get the new every 2 just the normal offers. Now if you didn't get it or tossed it in the trash unknowingly VZW may still give it to you. Here's the catch: If you take the new every 2 you do not get the mail in rebate as well! Example being the v710 with the $70 rebate: NE2 $100-$70 rebate = $30 net savings. For those of you mathematically challenged that would mean $219($249-30)...

I am sure. I deal with this daily. People think they get an Additional $100 off the 2 year contract plus the rebate or any phone they want for free! Some at anytime they lose brake, or simply don't like there phone anymore. Some people are such dopes, Why do they think you are asked if they want insurance at the time they sign a contract? It is because they think the phones are really that cheap. I laugh when they hit the floor after I quote them $450 retail for a v710.

🤣 🤣

I'm right there with you captain. I love when people get mad at me when I tell them the un-activated price of the phone. You would think I'm taking there first born.

I don't think these replies are correct. I am currently in NE2, and when I log in at the VZW webpage, and look at the upgrade, it takes the $100 off the top, then applies any current rebates at the end. So, if I look at the VX7000 before logging in, it shows me this:
$249.99 reg. price
- 70.00 off
$179.99

When I login and look at upgrading my phone, I see this:
$149.99 reg. price
- 70.00 off
$79.99

The previous posts describe the same conversation I had at Radio Shack today, and showed the person the same web pages. I expect to see this on August 11:
$219.99 reg. price
- 70.00 off
$149.99

We will see!

You are 100% Correct

The NE2 $100 is a CREDIT.... it does not prohibit you from taking advantage of:

- 2 year contract pricing
- any and all rebates

The entire reason I'm waiting for VZW to get this, and not buying it at Radio Shack is because I'm only going to pay $149 for this phone w/ my NE2 credit.

I stopped by a Radio Shack this morning, played with a V710 - and then turned around and walked out... I easily could have bought it... but why pay $100 more?

Also - i'd rather let you guys figure all of these problems / questions out over the next 12 days so I don't drive myself nuts on the 11th.
Thanks for doing all the work for me - you guys are doing a great job ;)

Call your lawyer over NE2? Jeez. I bet Verizon has 100 lawyers on retainer at all times with billions to spend on them if they want. People kill me with there lawyer threats. Don't you have more important things to sue over? 🤣 I do not think they will lose sleep over you, but I might be wrong about NE2 after reading some posts. Sorry I did not mean to misinform. Only trying to help.

Over here in San Francisco... My friend and I both got v60c's back in April 2002. I'm a Verizon Wireless customer since 1995 while he is a new customer. He paid $249 + tax - $50 Mail In Rebate making it $199 + tax. I paid $149 + tax - $50 Mail In Rebate and I also got the NE2 credit at 21.9 months as the rebate required purchasing the phone 10 days before my NE2 22 months is up.

I just got into the office from my visit to the RS at 86th and Lex; I called him about 8 last night and, sho'nuff, they had a 710 and he put my name on it -- as long as I got in before someone else did. I was about to walk out when my fiancee came in and nixed my trip, so I let him know I would come in this AM when he opened and pick it up. After all, what she says, goes 😉

Anyhoo, got the phone, a data cable (for $22) and the blue Motorola desktop charger (the chintzy one with the clock - $49) which were both discounted 20%. I walked out of the store with the last of his 710's and the aforementioned items for about $400.

The really nice part is that I spoke to a VZW rep who told me she would give me $50 credit but couldn't give m...

That's not the way it has worked for me in the past. I've done 2 NE2's on 2 phones over the last 4 years and did my sons phone about 6 months ago. All five times I received the NE2 plus the rebate coupon. 😕

Good to hear because that would be such a hassle to fight. Seems to me some reps are getting a kick back 😕 😛 Just hope it really is a joke.

I think its the difference between the Authorized Reseller and dealing with VZW directly. Looking at the web site, it sure looks like you get both.

Sorry maybe I was misinformed? That is the way it was explained to me by our owner. I hate doing upgrades because we cannot do the new every 2, but we can do better on the 1 year contracts especially new accounts.

You are not informed right nor do you deal with this daily ootherwise you'd know what you said about "cklarification" is 100% wrong.

EVERY, and I mean EVERY, NE2 customer gets the $100 credit off the prompotional price PLUS(that means also) they get the rebate too. Stop spreading ****ty information bro.

If that is what the store you work for does then they are ****ing th...

Actually, you don't need the coupon. It says so right on it. You just need to go to a Verizon store, it's all in the computer.

No problem. I'm wish I could have purchased it at RS today, but for the extra $100, I'll wait a few weeks.
