I got one, my thoughts and issues....

Well, I just got a Chrysler 300c with the Uconnect and that finally pushed me over the edge to buy a bluetooth cell phone. This is the first cell phone I had since my brick in a bag in 1993.

I first bought a Sony Ericsson T637 with Cingular. Bluetooth sync with the computer (pc and mac) was WAY cool. Super easy to put all my contacts on the phone. Even transfer files via bluetooth. This was my first camera phone. The pics sucked. Very low res. But the phone was small and it linked with my car. It even had the signal strength and battery level displayed on my car. But Cingular service wasn't quite up to Verizon's in my area (from what everyone told me) so I took it back after 3 days.

Today I picked up my V710 at a Radio Shack ...

I'm just curious about your short-lived experience with Cingular and the T637. I live in central NJ as well, in Summit; and am looking to get Cingular with the SE phone. Any feedback would be very useful.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I would tell you to make sure you go to a real cingular store. I went to one in the Rockaway Mall and it looked like a Cingular Store, but it was an agent store and I had a problem taking it back:

But even in Budd Lake (where I live) Cingular wasn't too bad. I usually frequent places in Warren, Sussex and northern Morris county. And Cingular service was actually better than I thought it would be. Not quite as good as Verizon (like at my house). I got no service at my house, but as I drove down my street, I got service again, that was the main reason I returned it. But overall the service wasn't too bad.

And the phone was great. The T637's camera was better...

Thanks for your response, it was helpful.

I don't know anyone with Cingular - which may be a sign in itself. I have Verizon now and am pretty disappointed with the phones they have... which may be a stupid reason to switch. However, must say that I have shoddy reception in my house even with Verizon. I receive calls but they are usually unclear and cutting in and out.
I do have a Mac, and had a SE phone while I was abroad and the sync-ing was flawless. I've heard people are disappointed with the battery life, but I think I can handle charging the phone at some point every day so hopefully this won't be limiting.

I think I'll just have to try it out and see. Thanks again.

I didn't notice any problem with the battery life of my T637. I charged it up the first day and used it about 30 minutes of talk time, and had it on for 3 days and I didn't recharge it in the 3 days. It might be expensive to "try" cingular, but you do get 14 days to return it.
