I keep reading that the RS version is not the final s/w. Is this true? So Verizon's V710s will have a more up to date s/w release when they launch their's at the stores?

Where is this info coming from?

Not true... The RS V710 has a different hex identifier in its firmware vs. the demo phones that VZW stores just got in a few days ago. Also the RS phones shipped from Moto. about 3 weeks ago,VZW just got them in.

OBEX is supported but not active or accessable without hacking the firmware. Dont think Motorola or VZW plan on the exchange of java apps yet, but who knows

I don't know the actual "Revision Number/Letter" I had the chance to view the programming it self. A friend(who works for VZW) and I(Network Admin/Programmer) were trying to figure out the differences between the two. A hex identifier is the beginning block of hexadecimal data in a program. When we compared the two different versions there were a few differences, mostly behind the scences stuff. I.E. the service code for the RS version is 123456, the service code for VZW is 000000, the SMS L3 Ack was hard-coded to enhanced c7. Only noticeable user changes were phonebook related(some soft key menu changes).

Ok, very important here "supported but not active or accesable" OBEX is not only for JAVA correct, it is also integral for file transfer, which is the #1 most complaint about the limited Bluetooth...so what I read from your reply is that it should be possible to activate it..thats a good thing..would you be willing to email me so I can talk to you further? Not many on here at your level of knowledge..
