The first true v710 DEFECT? (under the lens dust)

There are at least two threads in the past day dealing with dust accumulating UNDER the camera lens that apparently cannot be removed. To me and others who have posted in the other threads this is a true design defect and it concerns me.

The camera portion of the v710 is a distant second in importance to me after the DUN via bluetooth, however I fully intend to use the camera as the need/desire arises. If this is a true defect and not some mis-diagnoses by a few, I sure hope the Motorola Gods are monitoring these forums to see customer reactions and perhaps come-up with a solution or re-design or some sort of action.

I think you will find that the cover/lid will "pop" off. You should be able to remove it with the edge of a knife and you can then clean the lens and anything else that is dirty.

If this is not true another solution is a can of compress air cleaner. You can get this from any electronics or computer store. It's great for cleaning out keyboards and the inside of stereo components. Anyway if dust got in. It can get out. And a shot of fast moving compressed air will just shoot that dust right out of there.

Cans of compressed air cleaner are not expensive. A couple of bucks a can.

True, but the point is we should not have to clean the camera internally, especially after less than a week of...

Your digital cameras are sealed and are designed to "reduce" the amount of dust "under" the lens.
If you "seal" that lens you seal the cover. If you seal the cover a technician can't work on the phone if need be. You can't customize the phone that seems so popular today and you would raise the price of the phone by about 200 dollars.

It is a phone first. It is not a camera with a phone. It is not going to give you the quality of a camera. It is going to give you the quality of a good phone.

Do not look to any cell phone with a camera as a replacement of a dedicated digital camera. You will be disappointed.

BTW my Nikon 8700 and Cannon ZR80 have a "access" port to clean the "inside" of the camera and it is clearly spelled out in...
