It's the brains of the phone... The neuro pathyways...

Anyway, for those of us that already have the phone, Motorola will be sending the firmware update to Verizon the end of the month....

VZW can start flashing and frying the phones in September...

It's the software the phone uses. Think of it as Upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. This software (firmware)is built into a microchip in the phone, the phones coming from Verizon will have been upgraded (flashed) with a newer version of software (hopefully without glitches).

I hope this helps a little 🙂

So even though the firmware won't be available for people who bought the phone from RS until the end of the month - the phones being released from Verizon WILL have the updated firmware installed? is this correct or an assumtion?

It is just a speculation. At this point, no one knows when there will be a new firmware release. No one even knows how such update might happen, via over the air download or visit store for re-flash. We just have to wait and see.

I believe it's safe to say no one knows if there even will be an update. Lot's of speculation...
