Wireless internet & V710

I ordered a V710 yesterday, and then today noticed that it was NOT listed as "internet ready" on the VZ web page - even most of the cheap phones are. A primary reason for getting this phone and VZ is to support express network with my laptop and PDA via Bluetooth (I do this now with the laptop using a wire to a LG4400 using my regular minutes). Are there any issues with the 710 and internet? I thought it even supported the VZ "broadband". If this isn't going to work I don't want to even open it.

Also, what software is being used to sync with outlook?

All I can tell you is that I tried every way you can think of to connect to my Palm T3 by using bluetooth. It never worked, so I took it back. I loved the phone, but I got it for the the bluetooth. Why pay 300-500 dollars just for a phone. I have one of those now and I got it for free.

Hi,

The 710 is capable of two types of internet access. The slower, Quick2Net, uses your minutes and pokes along at 14.4k. This is probabally what you are using currently on your LG4400. The phone also supports 1XRTT which is considerablly faster (50k-60k) but requires a National Minutes Plan or a Express Data Plan. Both can be done via Bluetooth if your laptop supports BT.

The phone does not support broadband also known as EV-DO. Look to the next generation of phones, however this is not much of a factor today as EV-DO is supported in only 3 cities: DC, San Diego and most recently Vegas) More cities to come online later in the year.

Concerning sync software, Verizon has their own solution which involves several GetItNow services (j...

I have my pda and laptop working with the v710 on the Express Network through bluetooth. It's very nice and I'm very happy now!

It works for me. I too had an LG440 connected to my laptop with a USB cable using the Future Dial drivers and connecting to the Express Network. No data plan but the connect time came out of my minutes. When I first got the 710, I got the bluetook dial up networking set up with no problem but when connecting it said my username and password weren't recognized. I could do a 14.4 connection to Earthlink so I figured something had changed in my Verizon account. I confirmed again with my store that they didn't change any account settings then went to #611 and spent an hour or so with tech support and customer service only to learn that this method of connection wasn't supported and that I'd need to purchase a data plan. Well, later that nig...

I have no problems connecting to the Internet with my laptop via Bluetooth. I've tested the connection speed several times, and the download rates are generally in the 80 to 100 kbs speeds. And that's great. But the upload rates are in the 4-5 kbs range. Any ideas as to why?

I've tested the phone in Portland, Oregon (where I live); as well as Denver, CO and Phoenix, AZ.

Also, I've had a lot of problems with the mobile web. Even using a free WAP service. It times out.

Could this be a hardware problem with my phone? Is it a know problem that will be addressed in the new firmware?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
