Motorola V710
USB to Windows XP
I'm trying, without success, to connect my V710 via USB to my Windows XP computer. My intent is to eventually use Mobile Phone Tools. I cannot get Mobile Phone Tools to work, but I think my problem is the USB connection. Windows automatically installs a driver titled "Motorola V878-V690 Phone". Mobile Phone Tools acts as though it cannot see my phone. When I try to test the connection to my phone using Windows XP Device Manager, and using the the "Query Modem" test on the device, I get a response indicating that the device is not connect or not powered on (which of course I've verified).

You must be using that ****ty Radio Shack Future Dial Cable. Do yourself a favor and return it. You need to buy the Motorola cable for $39.99 and it will detect the phone properly.
Motorola Cable doesn't work either... Per Motorola, there is a glitch in the phone itself that wont be corrected until Mid September (depending on how long it takes the VZW morons to get the software out)... Motorola has said, to me, that there will either be a phone exchange thru VZW, or a flash update... To sum it up... Screwed until the update... Some phones work though...

It must be hit or miss then b/c I got mine to sync up with the moto cable.
Don't know... I tried on two computers to Sync... Both XP with SP2... Then you plug the cable in, it recognizes something, but the drivers never load... If you try to load them manually, the system says they don't exist.. Guess all I can do is wait until next month and hope they don't fry the phone when they flash it...
Verizon's business model must be based on Microsoft. Money, greed, screw the customer!

once you upgrade to 2.21f,....then go to device manager and update the driver and specify the location....browse to your mpt directory....under inf...you should find a directory labeled "XP"...and the driver should be there...that worked for me...let know me if that help...
