Outside Display

Is there anyway to get the outside display to not power off? Though I realize it can eat battery, I'd like to be able to quickly check the time/if i have any messages. Thanks. 😁

No way to keep it on but a quick push of the bottom button on the left side of the phone will bring up the display. A pain, I know, but you quickly get used to it. I did. 😳

I didn't and am returning it because of it. Bad, bad design.

You're too lazy to push one button? 🙄

This is an issue of laziness? I don't think so. I leave my desk many times during the day and have for years found it useful to simply glance over at my phone to see if I've missed a call. Working in a cube, I don't have my phone ring so not as to disturb others, so a simple glance to see if I've missed a call, while still typing on the keyboard, doesn't cut down on my work productivity. I don't know of any other phones with external displays that DON'T show if you've missed a call. So why would Motorola think it would go over without complaints now?

Who said they were personal calls?

Comments such as that are unprofessional and have no place on this forum. Try upgrading your attitude to "helpful" instead of "critical."

Is this really that big of a deal? People can't press a button when they want to look at the outer display? Wow. Well, if this is any consolation to you, I have discovered that the display remains on when I have it plugged in to my car charger. I have an OEM Moto charger. I don't know the model #, but it's the one with the blue Moto logo that lights up on the end. Anyone else have the same result with any other chargers? When I charge the phone at home the display does turn off.

In case you're interested, Motorola told me TODAY on the phone that their two biggest complaints with this phone is NO Bluetooth support for Mobile Tools 2.0 (which they are fixing in 3.0), and the lack of options to configure the external display (can't see time or missed calls, inability to change the annoying graphics and the teenie picture you can assign to a contact).

Hopefully, they do something about these issues!

You really got my hopes up there. I set the Display timeout to NONE and turned off the battery saver and the INSIDE display turns off as well!

What in the world were those Motorola design idiots thinking?

Anyone have a combination of settings that would work even with the flip open?

Sorry to not be of help... but if any motorola ppl are listening...

The outside display should be black back with bright green or blue (configurable text color). The time or missed calls should show?! Isnt this possible with a firmware upgrade?

Also... I noticed that the phone does not tell me when I miss a call even when I open it. I have to go to recent to check. Anyone else have this issue?
