I plan on purchasing the phone next month after the firmware fix is out but in the meanwhile I went into the VZW store to see the phone and talk to the sales folks. They had little clue as to how to work it, did not realize the picture was off kilter, did not realize that you diconnect the call when the case is closed and using speakerphone, did not know how to send a picture to my email, beleived that the bluetooth was fully funtional for data transfers and knew nothing of upcoming firmware updates and the list goes on...

Frustrating but thanks for this forum

I keep saying that these guys don't make much $$ on the phone. They'll sell you the service which is a 2 yr - lifetime annuity for verizon if it worked on a brick....I don't believe they have incentive to learn or sell the phones....

Maybe times have changed.

In the early 80's I was an assistant buyer and department manager for a major east coast department store. I was responsible for five departments multiplied by ten stores. The sales personnel that I had knew the products inside out because I made the information available and they cared.

If you ever shop for your groceries at Whole Foods you will notice that the staff knows the products. They know where the product was made or grown and how it was done. A standard supermarket staff person barely knows the price or if they even have a product let alone specific information about how it was brought to market.

Study after study identifies that financial compensation is not the key factor in performance b...

I used to sell cameras. If a new camera came in, I'd take one home and learn every button and dial.

Sometimes you get luck and get someone like that at Verizon or another store. most of the time they don't really give a hoot, and the turnover is so high, you can't go back to someone you liked.

The woman where I bought my vz710 was a babe, but acted like she couldnt give a hoot what phone I bought...didnt want to answer any questions about the phone or the service.

On the plus side, I've found the technicians at all the VZ places to be very helpful and cooperative, if a bit busy. But the reason I will ONLY buy at Verizon is I can walk in and wait(even if its a half hour) and get my phone fixed.
