Key Back Light Goes Out
When I press the button to activate the speaker phone feature the back light for the keypad goes out. I assume this is a defect and will be taking the phone back to Verizon but I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I believe there's a sensor on the left side of the phone that detects if there is enough abient light. Not sure if that's what your talking about though.

Interesting! I took the phone into a dark room and the back light for the key pad did not go out regardless which key I pressed, speaker phone or other. Is this "feature" documented? A quick look at the user manual did not show anything. I looked around the phone and could not find anything that was an obvious sensor. I suppose it could be behind the clear portion of the keys?
Thanks for the response. You saved me a trip to the Verizon store!

Yes read your manual.
By the way the sensor is in the left translucent bumper.

I only noticed it prior to making a phone call but I just went to try making a call and then turn on the speaker phone feature and when I pushed the first button of the phone number the backlight went out. I guess I have a real problem here!

Mine will stay on in a poorly lit room..When you turn the speaker phone on or off under a lamp the backlights go out... Must be a sensor
