Did you try expert setup & choosing LAN isntead of a dialup modem?

This way, you should be able to connect to the internet before you load aol, then open aol and connect as you would with a broadband connection..

I have also logged on to AOL via the v710, using a 15" Powerbook Alum. Worked like a charm. YES, you will definitely be setting AOL to a LAN connection, not to dial-up.

I believe that you might be missing the whole point, here.

You don't need ANY ISP to connect to the internet via the v710 (or any other data-enabled cell phone, for that matter).

Verizon will act as your ISP. Simply connect the cell phone to your computer (or PDA), and set the computer to dial #777.

Use "phone#"@vzw3g.com as your user name, and "vzw" as your password (replace "phone#" with your 10-digit cell phone #).

When you are connected, try starting the AOL shell... I believe that it...
