Another Screwup from Motorola programmers. Listen to this...
When the phone is PLUGGED IN the charger... and you are talking on it.... the screen goes black after awhile. Normally this would be fine... although if your phone is plugged in, I don't know why they couldn't keep power to the screen so that when you are on speakerphone you can see the call timer or something.
HOWEVER.... when you UNPLUG the phone and talk on the phone with BATTERY POWER.... the screen only DIMS and does NOT go off. SO, when on battery power, the phone is programmed to use MORE power by keeping the screen lit (although dim)... and w...

I mean this in the best way - so please don't get defensive.
I've been reading your posts -and it seems as if most of your comments are aimed at yelling at people who have legitimate complaints about the phone.
Do you not agree that some of the useful purposes of a cell phone message board are to:
- allow users to share ideas on how to better use the phone
- allow potential customers to review both the good AND BAD about a phone, so they can make an educated decision
- provide a possible forum for cell phone manufacturers to view praise and complaints about their design

no offense taken but maybe this is not the forum for me. i really do not care much about the phone this much to try to write an essay about my feelings and opinions and back them up with facts, etc...
you guys have good points but this forum for me was to be informative (like how to get the most out of my v710) not to debate.

I like the v710... I'm keeping mine. But there are some things on this phone that were just not thought out properly and I think it's our job to point them out.

Now after I've changed a few settings it seems my screen stays on after all. Very strange.
Perhaps I will shut my call timer and see if it still stays on...
