Bluetooth headset - phone sometimes rings

This is weird. I have a BT200 that I paired supposedly in "handsfree" mode (by holding the up volume and MFBs simultaneously as described on Jabra's web site). None of the handsfree features seem to work, but I've just noticed tonight that twice, my phone actually *rang* while the headset was turned on (and on my ear). The bluetooth icon was not on the outer display when it lit up, and when I pressed the MFB it answered the call. This happened a couple of times, it appeared, when I hadn't used the headset in awhile - like the phone had gone into a powersaving mode and disrupted the BT link. Now when I try it I hear a ring in the headset, but I've only tried letting a half minute or so go between attempts.

Can anyone else with a 200 (or 2...

I've got a BT 200 and basically am seeing similar things. I think the phone goes into power save but if the headset is still in standby when the phone rings it will make the connection and then ring your headset. Problem is, if you're not wearing the headset you don't know the phone is ringing ☚ī¸

Can anyone explain how the hell you leave the headset in standby and still get the phone to ring? Not everybody wears their headset while it's in standby...and I don't want to have to 'power off' the headset just to get the phone to ring. It's both annoying to do, takes the '5 second button press', and will then take equally as long in order to start up again when the phone does ring.

Any thoughts from anyone on this matter?

I have an HS 810. With the flip closed, it is essentially off. When a call come in I flip it open and by the time I get it to my ear, I hear the connect sound.

I hope they never stop making the 810.

I have the BT200. To pair it, I didn't hold down both the Volume Up and BTF buttons -- just the BTF button until the blue light went solid (a little off track though).

I have noticed the connection between the BT200 and the v710 goes into Standby. But when a call comes in, it only rings in the earpiece. I'm not sure how to have the phone ring when the v710 is connected to the BT200.

Also, if you're connected, and you push the BTF button once, you will hear the voice command menu (from which you can voice dial, etc).

I can confirm that at some point, somehow, the phone dropped the BT connection to the 200 while the 200 was still "on" and on my ear. I know because I heard the phone ring on the desk, looked over, heard it ring again, hit the MFB on my 200 with one short press (it was already on), and it answered the call.

This can be duplicated by "drop"ping the BT connection via the phone, but leaving the 200 in standby. The weird thing was that somehow my V710 did that automatically yesterday - I didn't even know where the "Drop" menu choice was.

All that said, I'm sick of this issue and can't wait until my 810 arrives. 🙂

I've always thought pairing is done by holding down the power button on the headset for longer than 10-15 seconds until the light STAYS blue.

I can't tell who you're responding to but you're right...note that you can also pair in "handsfree" mode (rather than "headset" mode) by holding the MFB and the up-vol button together until the light stays blue. Only I can't get the extra functions to work with the V710. ☚ī¸
