Phone resets...all screens go black and phone starts up again

Hi Everyone,

I did some searches on the board, because I think someone might have mentioned this problem, but I think it was an initial reaction to the outer screen going black after being idle.

I have had the phone since its debut at VZW. Overall, i like it, except for the obvious issues mentioned here and that hopefully the firmware will fix.

But since having the phone, on 6 separate ocassions, my phone while in use either talking to someone or switching back to phone use after browsing Mobile Web 2.0, has completely gone blank and reset itself. This is rather annoying as you can imagine and has happend a few times -- even while talking to someone.

I took it to VZW yesterday, and they told me its because I charge it on all th...

Have the same issue. I have experienced it where the WAP browser locks up, and then the phone restarts. With that type of restart (if i then don't power off/on the phone again manually), I've also had the problem that caller doesn't come through, and that audible rings don't function.

I just had that problem for the first time today... Well, almost. The screen froze and I couldn't do anything, not even power off the phone, it was completely nonresponsive. then about two minutes later it went into a no service status and started functioning normally soon thereafter.

I've noticed pauses and such when exiting the browser. I think there is something about it that is really taxing to the phone's resources and it just takes a while to catch up. If it can't catch up, it just crashes. I don't think this problem is unique to this phone. Pretty much every phone I've used the browser on has given me some kind of response issue at least a few times while using or exiting the browser, and I've been using it since the dawn of...

<RANT>The "advice" from Verizon about you causing this by charging the phone all the time and needing to pop the battery every morning is beyond comprehension. That a Verizon employee said that to you - I would wish you got it on tape so you could send it to 60 minutes. Only a monopoly like Verizon (coverage) can get away with treating paying customers so shabbily. I bet the employee went back into the break room after you left and had a good laugh with his a55hole co-workers. They must have contests to see who can make customers believe the more outrageous pack of horse5hit.</RANT>

On to the real issue, all the threads about this that I've seen have mentioned using the browser, and a great many of them (I think) mention MW2.0...

Well, I guess I am not the only one with this problem. I called VZW Tech support on an unrelated issue (Picture Messaging), and after discussing that I explain the tech support rep. about the problem I listed here in the board. He actually laughed with me, and was schocked that the employee at the store told me that it was my fault because of the way i was charging it. He was clear to say that taking the battery out every morning after charging is a bit excessive, and mentioned that had I been talking about my old T720 phone I had for 2 years...he would agree, but not the new V710.

Anyway, long story short. The tech support told me I should not be having this problem, at this point he wasn't sure if it is a software problem or a device ...

Rumor has it the OS was designed by Microsoft. That should explain the crashes 😉
