That's funny. I've been working on a few custom ringtones for calls, SMS, etc. and they, like all my MP3's are *way* too loud even on ringer volume 1. I was going to work on softening them tonight (convert to WAV, open in sndrec for windows, tweak volume, save, reconvert to mp3). You should be able to do the same with yours.

This is good core knowledge for anyone with a V710. You can convert from WAV to MP3 and back again. Musicmatch jukebox does this, as well as CDEX (my fav, tho installing and getting it working can be a hassle depending on your configuration). This makes building ringtones for the V710 fairly easy, as many have noted. Anyway, sndrec is "Start->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment- >Sound Recorder. AFAIK it's been on all Windows since the early days. It works on WAV files - very basic functionality, but most of what you need - change volume, cut before/after a position, record new (if you have a mic), insert/mix files.

Have fun.

Well, Wednesday is a great day to experiment...and learn. 🙂 So is every other day, actually...just experiment and have fun. If there's a sound file you care about, work on a backup copy.
