complaints re: mobile web on v710
I'm not sure if this has been discussed already but I'm very disappointed in mobile web 2.0. Here are some of my complaints:
1. Yahoo Mail is so hard to get to. They offer you Hotmail and AOL...and like 8 other email services that I have NEVER heard of and yet they can't offer Yahoo mail as one of their options? It's ridiculous.
2. I use ESPN to check baseball scores when I'm not at home. I had the V60 before and it was great. Now that I have the V710, I've noticed that after I initially refresh the screen on the main ESPN Baseball Scoreboard, I'm not able to refresh it again! The scores just stay the same even if I navigate away from the page and try and reload the page. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a solution to this proble...

press a button, and they're on your phone.....That's ok w/me.

I would like to take off some of the junk they put on, but it's "locked"
So far I find this a huge improvement over the old mobile web in terms of navigation, not to mention graphics. It is not and never will be a substitute for your PC or Palm where you can move about a mouse anywhere, or have high graphics content.

I wouldn't recommend clearing out the cache. I think that will stop the browser from entering the last page you were in before you closed it, but I'm not sure about that.
I use the wireless web to check scores, stocks and flight information. I best way to update the information is to refresh the page. You can do this by pressing the menu button and scrolling down to and selecting the "refresh" option, I believe it's option No. 7 on the V710. That will force the phone to make a connection to the network and update the information you're looking for.
The phone is made to save you minutes, believe it or not, by not connecting to the network until needed. When you go back and then go to the page you seek, it doesn't dial the network...

thanks for the suggestions babaloo...
i tried refreshing the ESPN baseball scoreboard page and nothing happens. the scores from the initial navigation just stay there no matter if i refresh it or not.

Just delete the cache

i shouldn't have to delete the cache every single time i want the scores refreshed...i didn't have to do that with my V60...there has to be an easier way.
i put my setting on my web sessions to "cache start up-off" and that didn't help either...

Are you sure you can do that? Are you using the "VZW" session? -- if so, you can't change that setting -- That session's settings are locked.
Try copying the seesion to a new session, and changing that setting in the setup menu.

yeah that's exactly what i did..i copied the vzw session and turned off the cache...the scores just stay there....

After you changed the setting, did you go back in and clear the cache? -- I believe that you have to do that one last time...

yeah the "taking you back to the homepage" is an issue that i thought was pretty annoying myself....i don't remember that ever happening with the previous version of mobile web..
i haven't even gotten to where you are at yet...the refreshing of the scores and having the scores updating fine....are you using the "web session" that it came with or your own web session that you cloned?

Well, I was using what it came with. Didn't even think to think you were doing it the free way. I'm going to try that now and see what results I get.

But just so you know, the Verizon WAP 2.0 is way way better, especially for sports scores. you can see all the games at once and I know refreshing the screen works. Just FYI.

Okay. after about 8 minutes it definitely is updating. All I am doing is pressing the menu button and selecting the "reload" option. Sox are now losing 1 to 2.
Maybe you're having a problem with the web session that you cloned. I'm just using the one I saw on here through Yahoo. I already pay VZW for wireless web so now I just have two web sessions in my phone and go back and forth between the two depending on what i need. I hope this is at least somewhat helpful. I'm just trying to keep you as informed as possible

Just checked again, I have 1 to 2, but now it's the top of the 5th. Someone must be really slow at Y! sports. I'm at work, so I don't really have access a TV. I guess I could check the score real time on the real Web, but if I open one more window, this computer will explode.
