my v710 just crashed. completely shut down. try to reset but no good. took the battery out, put it back in, still would not turn on. plugged it in using the charger and was able to turn it on, but it keeps rebooting every 5 seconds. can't find the problem because i can't get it to stay on long enough. i will report this to verizonwireless tomorrow.
one other thing. i've had the v710 for 4 months now and found a design flaw. the buttons seem to scratch the lcd.

sorry, keypad, not buttons

yeah, you need on of those leather cases that covers the screen and keypad w/plastic..kind of like a phone condom...
...
yeah, but that shouldn't happen. my point was that the software crashed. i don't know if this has happened to anyone else. i can't find the problem because the phone won't stay on long enough.

get a different brand phone.

the battery is totally dead and the wall charger cannot support the phone on its own. just let it charge after making sure its not trying to turn on, by removing the battery and putting it back in and not hitting the power button. the battery just doesn't have enough juice to boot. like a cars dead battery where all you hear is the solenoid clicking. it will be fine, but if its an engineering sample you should probably replace the phone for other reasons.

actually tested the battery on another v710 (the one i was testing and still testing updates). the v710 that crashed is the one i purchased. the battery is fine and works on the test v710. the battery is fully charged. there was an error message when it reboots. the phone reboots so fast that i can't read the message.
it's a bit strange that the test phone works fine but the retail phone crashed.

my friend's phone did the same thing and all he did was what I said and he hasn't had a problem.
