Got my extended battery today
A few days ago, I wandered into a Verizon Wireless Store (Vernon Hills, IL) and asked about an extended battery for my v710. To my surprise, the sales rep said, "We don't have it in stock, but I can order one and have it shipped to you free."
Dubious, I took out my credit card. Charge was $49 and tax, no shipping.
Today, I got a huge box from Fedex, containing an extended battery (1440 mAh) and a cover in a red and black Verizon retail pack, labeled v710 XCAP BATT / DR.
It fits in my leather case, and adds a bit more than half of the existing back cover's depth to the unit.
Not available for sale on the website, or for take-home in stores, but go on in and ask. I think the part number on the label is 666509.

Okay. Photograph snapped. It's on the end of a flash card full of 6 MegaPixel pictures from a long weekend at Napa Valley, so it'll take about 10 minutes or so to suck it in to iPhoto.
Although I'll say now, and restate later that a lot of y'all who complain about size are kind of moaners in my book. I prefer a phone with some girth to in that will fit in the palm of my hand, rather than something I have to hold with my fingertips.
