Are there going to be free upgrades?

Hey everyone! I just purchased the V710 yesterday but at an independent retailer so all sales are final as they ride on commission. I've been reading all the messages and it seems that a lot of people are having problems with the earpiece and the camera. Personally, I think the phone is off the hook, but the camera does need some work. It just looks very dark. Since we did pay so much money for this phone, do u guys think motorola will release any upgrades for our phone such as software or firmware? That would be great if they could do that cuz i just wish my pictures were less dark even in lighted areas. Thanx for your responses guys and gals. =)

do a search on this forum for "firmware upgrade". One is supposedly in th works, but it won't fix the camera, that's hardware.

i doubt it. I'd imagine it would be a whole new model. Until the phone makers start using ccd's for the cameras the pix will always suck. Some a little better than others, but ccd's are key to great images.

but the vx7000, the vx6000, and a670 all look much better than the v710 which is REALLY weird. i was never able to play with a live phone so i'm a bit disappointed with the camera capabilities. so our however our camera is, that's how it is then? no making it better?

they might be able to make slight impovements with the firmware; maybe reducing some of the graininess, but i think this is what we get.

so as of right now, it seems like the BT isn't working properly. Is it possible to transfer files to our phone without the BT, usb cables, or whatevers. maybe send an email or something? cuz i wanted an mp3 as my ring tone but i guess it ain't happenin' huh?

if you want to use an mp3 as a ring tone you need to cut it down to about 25 seconds. Save it as an mp3 and change the file extension to .mid. Again, do a search for "mp3 ringtones" and you'll find plenty of info.

If you want to put an mp3 on the phone via email just be aware that many ISPs won't allow mp3s to be emailed.

usb cable is your best bet

had a similar issue with my Apple iSight. before firmware 2.0 the graininess level was off the charts, particularly in low lighting. When it went from 1.0 to the 2.0 upgrade it was an amazing improvement. (could've b een 1.0 -> 1.2....don't really remember) my guess is it's a firmware problem and that's it. guess we'll see in the upgrade.

just get a tf card, transfer the mp3's to the card.that is the easiest way to get mp3's on your phone. 😁

Unless you connect directly to the image sensor and compare images there is no way to tell if the camera can be improved greatly; we have no way of knowing what is going on in the DSP, but it is most likely you are right. There may not be much that can be done. In my experience the pictures get the point across without pro quality
