What is the model number of the data cable people are using. What did you pay for it and where did you get it.
I read some forms that said not to get a radio shack cable any truth to this?

if your looking for the data cable you can purchase it at RS you will need to find the driver via web for the cable.... IE driver for T720 data cable since its the same plugins
if you need software and stuff then I'd have to agree do not buy at RS they use a company called future dial and unfortantly they do not have the software out for the V710 yet how ever if you'd like to take the chance I think the V600 drivers should work for the 710 since they are pretty much the same phone... Otherwise just goto VZW directly or Moto

I haven't tested my radioshack cable, but it is not a true USB cable. It is a serial cable with a serial to usb adapter inline. and the V710 is native USB.

Don't connect the phone to the cable until you have Mobile Phone Tools installed and you've run the Live Update several times until you get to the version 2.21f. Then when you connect the phone, the drivers for the v710 will be there. If you go to Device Manager after you've connected the phone and scan for hardware changes, it will find the Motorola under Modem...
