Screen scratchs & Verizon

I guess as we all see, the keypad scratches the screen. I have 7 scratches caused by the 1,3,4,6,7,9, and 0 keys. Looking at the phone there are two plastic stoppers to keep the screen raised over the keypad but it looks like they are too short. Looking at my girlfriends Sanyo she to has the plastic stoppers also but if you view the phone from the side you see that hers really does keep the clamshell seperated.

I guess my question is if Verizon is replacing these phones as defective when their screens scratch? Surely these plastic stoppers were put there to stop the scratchs and they arent long enough. Defect in workmanship? I think so. I'll be returning my phone for a new one. Has anyone else returned their phone for scratches caused by...

DESTROY ITSELF! Now that is some interesting terminology that sounds familiar. Oh yes... I recall this same terminology in the exclusion clause from Asurion. Specifically "hidden or latentt defect or nay quality inthe property that causes it to damage or destroy itself."

Now for all of you who want an unscratched screen I strongly recommend that you document each and every warranty exchange for this issue so that when the warranty period is up you can still get it fixed for free. In fact I would go so far as getting it in writing that the agree to fix this isue for as long as you have your phone.

this is clearly a manufacturesrs defect and if and when I get this phone I will take this up with MOTO and the consumer protection folks....
