FotoBin so called FREE downloads, not so free on Verizon.
I have just looked at my account and it seems Verizon charged me for 8 ringtone downloads from www.fotobin.com (that are free) and to top it off it shows up on my bill as picture messages received, I called Verizon and had the normal think as a brick technician SHOUTING down the phone to me that I should not download ring tones that are not part of the Get It Now money spinner.
Be careful Verizon really do have a customer service problem and they should take a closer look at how cell technology works in Europe and Asia to learn a few things.
Take care,
Martin.
P.S Anyone been charged like this too?
Not sure its fotobins problem after all they just send the file to your phone (free), Verizon are the muppets they saw it came from a site called fotobin so they thought ahhh $$$$$ lets call that piture messaging and charge for it, even though it is a download and they could charge they just say its not part of GIN and bill me for it, believe me the tech guy was shouting at me, I did not have a leg to stand on with him.
Verizon.... I needed to go to the bathroom or are you going to change for that too?
I have no idea how they can stop us but the word is they are going to as they are losing lots of money over the free WAPs and stuff.
Anyone else heard this? This came from a dum dum sales associate at the store.
You should have heard the sales guy try to explain how the Samsung i600 works. It was HILARIOUS! The guy had no clue what the i600 was all about. He even said he had a bunch in the back!!!!! When he came back he said, "I'm sorry I was thinking of their camera phone, we do not s...

I have tons of sound effects and ringtones on my PC that I have downloaded off the web for free here and there ... but if I email one to my V710 ... yes it costs me one PIX message of my 40 PIX a package.
other delivery methods would be:
(1) USB cable ... which currently does not support file transfers through Motorola's Phone Tools.
(2) Bluetooth OBEX file transfers ... which were disabled at Verizon's request
(3) using a TransFlash memory card to shuttle the files from your PC to your phone ... which I understand DOES work.

Instead of watching what we do on are phones they may want to spend the time updating the technology so when you dl a file it shows on your bill as a download and not picture message!!!
Lets not even talk about the BT problem that we are still waiting for, wish I could run a company and get away with the stuff Verizon do, makes Enron look like saints!!!!!
anything else going to your phone is ultimately an email ... txt messages, pix messages, sound files, MSN alerts
And of course all the transactions are logged ... I am sure your ISP could provide you a nice firewall log showing every website you've visited for the last 6 months. SO them knowing it came from Fotobin isn't like some huge big brother thing.

Sorry for the amount of post.
Verizon just called and have credited me back the money for the so call picture messages I received, seems we uncovered something as they say they are looking into this more, so keep your eyes open!
Your ISP doesn't tell you it logs every place you go ... and it can willingly or be forced (court subpoena) to provide that information to 3rd parties.
Like when one of the big ISP's (comcast or verizon maybe) was forced to cough up the names of their customers who were downloading music over the internet for a RIAA case.
Same thing with your phone calls ... they know who you called, when you called, how long you talked ... they can probably even tell by the tower approximately WHERE you were when you called... Other than to reconcile their bill people rarely even think twice about it.

anything sent to your [email protected] address (your number in place of 18005555555) is treated as a picture message. Now I do not have knowledge on how they will charge a different fee for video messages (the .50 that is upcomming) that I do not get, unless they will filter for the .3gp2 files or something. Anyways, I am suprised as well that there are so many people quick to open their mouths before looking around. This has been public knowledge for almost a year now, ever since the vx6000 came about. If you take a look at d-d-n.com or 3gupload.com, you will see that this method is nothing new. Verizon does not have true picture mail in the sense of it being propriet...
