v710 powers off when enabling Bluetooth Headset during call
First of all, apologies if this is a repeat question. Tried searching through the forum for answers but no advanced search capabilities here.
I have encountered subject issue intermittently. Has anyone else? Here's the sequence of events.
1 - Phone is already on and in standby.
2 - I receive a call. Answer by opening cover.
3 - Realize this is going to be a long call.. decide to switch to Bluetooth headset IN CALL.
4 - Power on bluetooth headset (Moto HS820).
5 - Activate bluetooth on phone during call (using menu feature.. "Use Bluetooth").

you are holding the power button too long. it is going into pairing mode. If you notice before the headset connects to the phone the light is steady on not flashing. so be careful when turning on the headset.

Good point and thx for reply. I thought that might be what was happening, so I was more careful at other times. I activate the headset first and wait til the light shows normal operation (flash once every 3 secs). Only after I verify headset on in normal ops do I attempt to activate the phone's bluetooth TRCVR. Still happens to me. Happened yesterday when talking to my sis. When call dropped, she just thought I was talking to her on Cingular.

Have both the HS820 and the Jabra Freespeak BT250 and haven't had the cutoff problem. But I use the smart button on HS820 to switch call to bluetooth after power on, not the phone prompt. I believe the Jabra picks up conversation automatically but I can't remember for sure right now.
The sound quality problem may be where you have the phone. I've noticed the HS820 seems to have a more limited range. I had 710 in cubby hole by visors in truck and could not get voice dial to work through headset. Once I pulled it out, voicedial worked fine and sound quality up to par.
Noticed that the HS820 is not quite as loud as the Freespeak and seems to pick up more background noise. Not the best choice for a noisey environment. The Freespeak is muc...

I don't need to use step 5. As soon as I power on the 820 ... the call goes right to it.
