Wireless web?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the whole wireless web thing with cell phones. I just upgraded from a startac....

Anyways, I see that people are saying to use Yahoo's "Wap" so that they dont get charged. Am I to understand correctly that you can use Yahoo's service and not get charged anything?

You will get charged for the time spent on the phone no matter what isp you use. If you use the internet provided on the phone, you will have to pay Verizon the monthly fee for the internet. If you want to use Yahoo, the only way I know to only get billed for time on the phone is to use a PDA and the phone as a modem.

Not exactly true. You can use the phone alone to surf the WAP world.

You will only be charged for minutes used (and NOT a monthly fee) if you set up the work-around described in this forum (and in more details on HOFO).

I have the standard WAP service on my phone (I was grandfathered in for free service years ago), and set up my wife's v710 for the work-around WAP (I do...
