When we get iTunes wouldn't it make the v710 better than the ipod? or can ipods download music also?

Yeah more memory but the v710 can do about 100 things more than a ipod.

Actually there is no guarantee that you will ever see itunes on the v710. The announcement referred to adapting itunes to new motorola phones coming next year, not on already existing phones. Also You can bet that verizon will never allow itunes on any of their phones unless they get a cut of the revenue. Since there isn't much profit in selling music to begin with thanks to the record labels stupidity, it may never happen on vzw phones.
